Craig Hackett

Craig Hackett was born in Sommers Point, N.J. in 1938 and moved to Pennsylvania with his family during World War II. In 1954 Craig enlisted for a four year tern the US Air Force in 1957. While serving most of his time in New York City he attend Mitchell College of LIU in evening sessions until he was shipped-out to Iceland in 1960.

During his tour of duty in Iceland he studied photography and gained a great appreciation for the varied expressions of Mother Nature. These memories, combined with yeasts of waterfowl hunting in eastern Delaware marshes enable him to feature these values in his paintings.

In the mid 1970s Craig became somewhat proficient at pastels and acrylics, producing a number of works for private collectors. After two or three years painting pastels and acrylics, he began to focus on watercolors and became addicted to watercolor after his initial attempt. Craig has painted with water color ever since and considers it an essential medium to produce the results he desires for his paintings of historical Bucks County homes, churches, and landscapes.

After thirty-plus years in a sales/marketing position handling graphic arts materials for the printing industry, Craig is now devoting the majority of his time to painting as many Buck County historically significant homes and buildings as possible.
